James Davis was born on August 12, 1944 to Clarence Davis and Gracie Dotson in Mooringsport, Louisiana.
He attended grade school within Caddo Parish School District where he graduated from Walnut Hill High School. In 1963 he entered into matrimony with Johnnie Virginia Sims. The couple welcomed 2 sons Marvin and Kevin Davis. James enlisted into the military and served in the Army. James courageously fought in Vietnam War.
After leaving his military post he went on to work for Alaskan Pipelines as a construction worker. After moving to Dallas, Texas he become a successful entrepreneur and opened In & Out Body Shop. He was a very hard worker and employed his sons to assist him running the business. Marvin and Kevin often talk about how they worked tirelessly at “The Shop” over summer breaks with their father.
James was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepfather Arthur Williams, sister Arthur Mae Nelson and nephew Cedric Nelson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sons, Marvin Davis of Shreveport, Louisiana, Kevin Davis (Kim) of Duncanville, Texas, 1 brother Charles W. Williams (Jeanetta), 1 niece Kashonda Williams-Marshall (Patrick), 2 nephews, Delvin Williams (Sheletha) and Marcus Nelson; 4 grandchildren Shalondrea Holmes, Shakara Davis, Kayla Davis and Jaliel Davis; 4 great grandchildren Kendell, Kennedi, Kimiyah and Jayden; close family members: Aunt Gladys Battee, Uncle J. D. Dotson, Valerie Holmes and a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews.
