On June 7, 2022, the world became a little quieter and less joyous when David Roca passed away in Dallas, TX after a brief hospitalization. Mr. Roca had a personality as big as his heart and is fondly remembered for never having met a stranger. They were merely people whose names he didn’t yet know. A fact that he would correct as soon as he could get within speaking distance.
Mr. Roca was born on September 20, 1962, in Corozal, Puerto Rico. His family moved to Newark, NJ in 1971. A baseball player, chess player, and constant source of amusement to his classmates, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after high school. He retired as a Technical Sergeant (E-6) after a 22-year career that took him all over the world. Mr. Roca was an active member of his church and loved the garden, and spending time with friends.
Mr. Roca is survived by his three children Rachel (Kyle) Cooper, Paul Roca, Josef (Rachel) Hope, and 2 grandchildren; siblings Jose Roca, Angel Roca, Pedro Roca, Miguel Roca, Julia Roca, and Maribel Roca; beloved pets Chuckie, Piper, and Maestro. Mr. Roca is preceded in death by his parents Efrain and Catalina Roca.
